November 20th, 2005 Fast Lane Season End Team Report

As the race season comes to a close for 2005, we finally have some time to report on our last two races, the California Fun drags in Sacramento on October 15th and 16th, and the AHDRA finals at LVMS in Las Vegas on November 12th and 13th. We have had a new motor combination built and ready, so Ron and Fast Lane Team decided it was time to try out the new combination at these two races.

In Sacramento the qualifying round results were:

 Round 1 - 6.928 @ 183.80mph

 Round 2 - 7.950 @ 82.49mph

 Round 3 - 6.986 @ 177.99mph

The numbers in round one and three are quite impressive due to the fact that the timers did not go off, there was no second stage clutch, no fuel, and no high gear. These problems were fixed and the bike was ready for competition on Sunday.

The elimination results reflect the repairs made, especially in round one which is a new track record at Sacramento for both ET and MPH. Ron and Fast Lane won this event.

Round 1 - 6.619 @ 211.78mph

Round 2 - 7.320 @ 146.51mph

Round 3 - 7.120 @ 202.90mph

Las Vegas did not disappoint us, as the weather, track prep, and the new motor combination all worked together in achieving a new personal record.

We tested only one round on Friday afternoon, which gave us data for qualifying day.

6.596 @ 211.16mph

The following are qualifying round results:

Round 1 - 7.159 @ 146.11mph

Round 2 - 6.544 @ 215.68mph

Round 3 - 6.619 @ 212.23mph

The 6.544  made us #5 qualifier out of  thirty T/F bikes.

Elimination day proved to be an exciting day for us, although we only made it to the second round.

Round 1 pitted us against Bill Furr:

R. Houniet        RT .099 - 6.494 @ 216.24mph

B. Furr             RT .025 - 8.730 @ 134.85mph

Round 2 against Mike Lehman was a close side by side race, where Ron had Mike up to the 1000 foot mark until Mike gained on the mph.

R. Houniet       RT. 077 - 6.509 @ 215.72mph

M Lehman       RT. 111 - 6.454 @ 218.48mph

As mentioned earlier, the 6.494 @ 216mph gave us our personal best for ET and mph.

Ron and the Fast Lane Team would like to thank all of our sponsors and race fans who make this season possible, and look forward to a new season in 2006.

Sept 19th, 2005 Ron captures the Decade Championship

It was an exciting weekend for Ron and all of us on the Fast Lane team. The weather held out for the final CMDRA event of the year at Mission Raceway, which helped us to get some great numbers in the qualifying rounds (such as a 6.54). We will be posting detailed results and photographs soon. We only made it to the second round of eliminations at this event, but we managed to maintain our points lead to capture the number one position for the tenth year in a row as the CMDRA Canadian Screamin Eagle Nitro Harley Champion. Congratulations Ron, from all of us on the team! See the event details here: http://www.speedzonemagazine.com/zones/bikezone/bikezone.html
